This is a subject most companies and individuals define, measure, or the impact that conflict. Why is it difficult? Because the definition is clear - that a proper balance between work and life, interpretation may vary.
Consider a newly promoted manager. They are eager to learn and are eager to make an impact. They have a large amount of energy and enthusiasm and often come in early or stay late. They have a good work-life balance? Or, how the CEO who basically 24 / 7 phone, and heavy travel and meeting schedule as well. They have a good work-life balance? The answer will depend on the individual. So what's the difference? We can choose how we spend time.
"Four dimensions of our nature renewing" - Stephen R. Covey 7 is the habit of sharpening the saw. These four dimensions of the mental (reading, writing, visualizing, planning), (exercise, nutrition, stress management), physical, social / emotional (Service, Empathy, Synergy, internal security), spiritual (value clarification and commitment, study and meditation). It is about looking after our own and create balance in our lives.
So how do we sharpen the saw, or to improve our work-life balance? We have choices to make! We got down to business - Set goals and time schedule for things in each of four dimensions. No one else will do it for us! Sounds simple right? So why do not more of us do it? A fear or belief that our owner, for example, might think we're not working hard enough? We lack the skills and knowledge?
It appears it is always black and white?
